The Website Alchemist is operated by The Story Song (Pty) Ltd, Registration No. 2025/980628/07, a company registered in South Africa.

In this Privacy Policy, references to “The Website Alchemist”, “we”, “us” and “our” mean The Story Song (Pty) Ltd, trading as The Website Alchemist.

We respect your privacy and only collect personal information that we reasonably need to respond to enquiries, provide our services and manage our relationship with clients.

When you use the contact form on this website, we may collect:

Your name, email address, phone or WhatsApp number, the service you are interested in, the message you send us, and information about how you heard about The Website Alchemist.

We may also receive information that you choose to send us directly by email or WhatsApp.

We use your personal information to respond to enquiries, discuss potential projects, prepare quotations or proposals, communicate with you about work you have requested, provide services to clients, and maintain appropriate business and financial records.

We do not use contact-form enquiries to add you to marketing mailing lists.

If The Website Alchemist introduces a newsletter or other marketing communication in future, you will not be added to it simply because you submitted an enquiry. Any marketing subscription will require a separate sign-up or other appropriate permission.

The contact form on this website submits information through Google Forms.

Google therefore processes and stores the information submitted through the form on our behalf. Google may process information using infrastructure located outside South Africa.

Only The Website Alchemist has access to the form responses.

We do not currently export contact-form enquiries into a separate CRM or other customer database.

This website includes links that allow you to contact The Website Alchemist through WhatsApp.

WhatsApp is operated by Meta and is subject to its own privacy practices and terms. When you choose to communicate with us through WhatsApp, information is processed through that service.

The website uses a small item of browser storage called twa-pwa-dismissed.

Its sole purpose is to remember when a visitor has dismissed the website’s install prompt so that the prompt does not repeatedly appear.

It is not used for advertising, behavioural tracking or analytics.

At present, The Website Alchemist does not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels or website analytics scripts.

Enquiries from people who do not become clients are normally kept for up to 24 months, after which they may be deleted if there is no longer a reasonable business or legal reason to retain them.

Client records may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary for the business relationship and for legal, tax, accounting, contractual and record-keeping purposes.

POPIA requires personal information not to be kept longer than necessary unless there is a lawful basis for retaining it.

We do not sell or rent your personal information.

Personal information may be processed by service providers that we use to operate the business, such as Google and WhatsApp, where this is necessary to provide communication or website functionality.

We may also disclose information where required by law or where reasonably necessary to establish, exercise or defend a legal claim.

Under the Protection of Personal Information Act, you may have the right to ask whether we hold personal information about you, request access to it, request that inaccurate information be corrected, and request deletion of information that we are no longer entitled to retain.
